The JVCKENWOOD KPT-300LMC is a free software tool for dealers and end users to manage and authenticate software as well as radio feature licenses for JKAU communication systems including the radios and repeaters.

To download the KPT-300LMC software, please login into myKENWOOD Dealer Portal using your username and password, then go to "3. Other Software Applications" folder under Technical Support Workspace, locate and download the "Setup" application file. Now, double-click on "Setup.exe" on your machine to launch the installation process and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation. Alternatively, you can request the latest KPT-300LMC Software package from your dealer, however, ensure you use the latest version to avoid losing licenses during authentication.

Open the KPT-300LMC software and ensure your PC is connected to the internet. Navigate to Setup -> General -> Account Registration. Drag and drop the Account Registration Key file also known as "KWD-ACT" (*.jkefa) into the window or manually enter the 32-digit key from the text version of the license file. Then, complete the required fields and click "Next" to finish the registration.

Before launching KPT-300LMC, please enable "Automatically update time" windows setting on your machine if not done before. Also, temporarily disable the windows firewall until the license is activated. Additionally, if you have windows 11 operating system or higher on your machine, enable the compatibility mode for the required programming software applications before authentication by LMC to prevent the loss of the licenses. However, laptops with windows operating system version 10 or lower do not need this compatibility setting.

Open the KPT-300LMC software and ensure the "Online" mode is selected. Navigate to the Software Authentication, drag and drop the Software License Key file (*.jkefs) into the left side of the KPT-300LMC window or manually enter the key. Select the license key to be authenticated and click the "Software Authentication" icon located on the top right-hand side on the LMC window to complete the process.

Connect the radio to your machine with LMC Software and power it on. Open the KPT-300LMC software and ensure the "Online" mode is selected. Navigate to the Radio Authentication tab, drag and drop the Radio features License key file (*.jkefr) into the left side of the LMC window or manually enter the key from the text version of the radio feature license. Select the license key to be authenticated and click "Radio Authentication" on the top right-hand side to complete the process. Please activate the radio features licenses from "authentication" tab on the right-hand pane instead of "field activation" to ensure the licenses are fully and correctly authenticated.

Before authentication, the quantity of the licenses appearing on the left pane of the LMC window is 1/1, for example. However, after authentication, the number of licenses will become 0/1. Also, you will see a message on the right pane that "the authentication is successful" and the license appears in red on the right pane of the window.

If the license authentication fails, ensure that your PC is connected to the internet, you have entered the correct license key as well as you use the latest LMC software version. If the problem persists, contact JVCKENWOOD technical support team with the screenshot of the error message for further assistance.

No. Unfortunately, KPT-300LMC software needs an internet connection to register your account and authenticate licenses. Ensure your PC is online while performing these tasks on the License Management Client software.

To update the KPT-300LMC software, visit myKENWOOD portal, check the latest software version and update yours if needed or contact your KENWOOD Dealer/Technical Support Team for the latest version. Follow the provided instructions to download and install the updated version. Do not uninstall the existing KPT-300LMC Version as you may lose all the previously installed licenses if you forget the Account Registration Key and Device ID.

Certainly, the updated versions of the LMC software fix the technical bugs. So, it is critical to check the latest updates and upgrade the version regularly.

To check whether you are running the latest version or not, navigate to "3. Other Software Applications" folder in Technical Support Workspace on the portal and compare your version with the one located here. Then, update it if needed, before you try to authenticate the programming software or radio feature licenses via LMC.

Yes. To ensure the licenses are authenticated with Japan server, it is mandatory that the machine with LMC should have the internet connection.

Yes, once you install the KPT-300LMC software on your PC/laptop, you can see a PDF copy of the KPT-300LMC Basic operations manual on the start menu under KENWOOD FPU tab.

It is strongly recommended to check at least twice a week the notifications on myKenwood portal on the latest firmware and software versions as well as other technical documents related to radios and repeaters. Download and install them to resolve any known issues.

Yes, if your laptop is about to expire or has become too old to use, you can transfer all the existing Programming software licenses to a new laptop.

To retain your KENWOOD programming software including KPG-Dx licenses, please cancel them on your machine first, then export them and finally reactivate them after the reset. Here are the steps:

i) Deactivate the License on the old machine:

• Open the KPT-300LMC on your old PC/laptop.
• Navigate to the "Cancellation" tab and then click on the "Software" section.
• Select all the licenses from the right pane of the window which you wish to cancel.
• On the upper right-hand side, click "Software Cancellation"
• Now, you should be able to see all the cancelled licensees sitting on the left pane with (1/1) quantity, for example. This means, your cancellation has been successful.

ii) Export the Licenses:

• Now, navigate to the "File" tab.
• Then, select the "Software License Export" option to export all the licenses.
• Once they are exported, save them to a folder, copy the license file to an USB Pen drive and forward them to your email address.
• You can export one license at a time and save it at a time or do all of them at once.
• Please get the Account Registration Key number from the LMC. It is good to have this one before you can factory reset. If not, still you should be fine as long as you have all the software licenses exported prior to the factory reset.

iii) Reinstall and Reactivate the License:

• Now, reinstall all the KPG-Dx programming software on the new laptop one by one.
• Use the original license key file previously provided by KENWOOD or the ones you exported to reactivate the software on your new laptop

To retain your programming software including KPG-Dx licenses, cancel them on your machine first, then export them and finally reactivate them after the reset. Here are the steps:

• Open the LMC on your laptop.
• Navigate to the "Cancellation" tab and then click on the "Software" section.
• Select all the licenses from the right pane of the window which you wish to cancel.
• On the upper right-hand side, click "Software Cancellation"
• Now, you should be able to see all the cancelled licensees sitting on the left pane with (1/1) quantity, for example. This means, your cancellation has been successful, well done.

ii) Export the Licenses:

• Now, navigate to the "File" tab.
• Then, select the "Software License Export" option to export all the licenses.
• Once they are exported, save them to a folder, copy the license file to an USB Pen drive and forward them to your email address.
• You can export one license at a time and save it at a time or do all of them at once.
• Please get the Account Registration Key number from the LMC. It is good to have this one before you can factory reset. If not, still you should be fine as long as you have all the software licenses exported prior to the factory reset.

iii) Factory Reset Your Laptop:

• Proceed with the factory reset of your laptop. Ensure you have backed up all important data before doing this.

iv) Reinstall and Reactivate the License:

• After the reset, reinstall all the KPG-Dx programming software one by one.
• Use the original license key file provided by KENWOOD or the one you exported to reactivate the software on your laptop

To retain all your existing software programming licenses, you should contact JKAU team before you do any of the following activities on your laptop. Failing to do so may result in the loss of your licenses on your current machine and you need to buy them from us again.
